How to Tone Your Arms

The Top 3 Exercises to Get Rid of Flabby Arm

To fight flabby arm, you've got to lean out your arms with a good diet and keep the muscles toned and defined with triceps-specific exercises. Here are our picks for the top 3 triceps exercises to tighten up your upper arms:

Exercise 1: Bench Dips

This is the mother of all triceps exercises, but it can be tough on the shoulders and neck if done incorrectly. Trainer Form Tip: Keep your shoulders down and back throughout the movement. Sound easy? Try it!

Exercise 2: Close-Grip Push Ups

This is my personal favorite, as it can be done almost anywhere without equipment, it's a compound exercise that targets all 3 heads of the triceps well, and it can be modified or advanced easily. This one is highly effective, but not for the faint of heart.

Trainer Form Tip: Keep your elbows tucked in and do not allow your shoulders to shrug.

Exercise 3: Dumbbell Kickbacks

This is a simpler isolation movement which isn't as intense as the other two, but most people can do it properly and feel a very good muscle contraction, so it's worth a mention.

Trainer Form Tip: Keep your elbows as far back as you can and do not allow them to move or swing.

 

There you have it! Our top 3 arm-blasting, tightening and toning exercises. We recommend starting with just 1 set of 10 repetitions each every other day if you haven't done them before. Then, add 2 reps or so every week or so, depending on your progress. After a few weeks, add a second set of each, and after a few more weeks, add a third set of each. By then, you'll be feeling a difference in the hardness and tone of the muscles. Stick with it, and you'll get there!
